asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he is aware of the serious shortage of dwelling-houses in the town of Swinford, County Mayo; further, that a number of people there have to live in buildings which were formerly stables; and if he will endeavour to arrange for the immediate erection of new houses in this town.

According to the most recent survey 53 houses are required in the Swinford district, 15 of these are required to replace houses which are unfit for human habitation. On the 6th instant I sanctioned the employment of a qualified architect in connection with the Mayo County Council's housing schemes and the county manager has intimated that the housing needs of Swinford will be brought specially to the notice of the architect.
