Vol. 103 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Wexford Fuel Supplies.

Mr. Corish

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he is satisfied that the turf requirements of the residents of the Blackwater area, in County Wexford, are adequately catered for, in view of the fact that the quota allowed is the same as last year when timber supplies were plentiful.

The turf requirements of the Blackwater area in County Wexford, within the limits of the prescribed domestic ration, should be adequately met by the supplies released to merchants. The position is under examination as there are reasons to believe that difficulties may have been occasioned by illegal sales in excess of the permitted domestic ration. Similar irregularities have come to light in other County Wexford areas and the turf merchants concerned, and the purchasers of excessive supplies, are being prosecuted.
