Vol. 105 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Issue of Credit Notes to Farmers.

asked the Minister for Agriculture whether he is aware that, owing to the serious losses of live stock incurred by farmers, and the poor condition of the stock remaining on hands because of the shortage of feeding stuffs and general deterioration following the severe winter weather, they will not be in a position to obtain cash to purchase manures for the coming season's crops; and whether, in such circumstances, he will arrange for the issue, forthwith, of credit notes to farmers, in exchange for wheat vouchers already held by them, to enable them to purchase manures to ensure a good yield and early ripening of crops.

I would refer the Deputy to my reply to his question on this subject of the 25th February last in which I explained the action I intend to take in regard to the fertiliser credit dockets held in respect of the 1943 crop. There is nothing I have to add to that reply.
