(a) The quantity of cement distributed last week to cement merchants for sale without permit was 2,224 tons. The maximum quantity that any individual can purchase in this way is two tons.

(b) Priority permits were issued for the purchase of 3,528 tons in the last week.

(c) Priority permits are issued in respect of the following: (1) licensed building operations; (2) major civil engineering works; (3) manufacture of concrete products, such as tiles, pipes and concrete blocks; (4) work of special urgency.

(d) As far as practicable priority permits are issued against all applications within the categories mentioned.

Would the Minister indicate what particular type of work would come under the heading of "work of special urgency"?

Repair to dangerous buildings or matters of that kind where action would have to be taken quickly.
