I move:—
That it is expedient to authorise such payments out of moneys provided by the Oireachtas as are necessary to give effect to any Act of the present session to make further and better provision in relation to the health of the people and to provide for the making of regulations by virtue of which certain charges may be made.
Has the Minister any idea what the financial cost will be under the Money Resolution?
As regards the Money Resolution, the best estimate we can make out at the moment is that the Exchequer's share of expenditure under the mother and child service will be about £250,000 per annum; under the tuberculosis service, £250,000; allowances for infectious cases under Section 39, £150,000, and for smaller items like medical preparations inspection, consultative councils, staff, etc., about £50,000, or a total of £700,000. That means that the total amount to be spent on the mother and child service will be £450,000; the tuberculosis grant for the current financial year is estimated at £300,000; so that the total cost to the Exchequer when the Bill comes to be implemented will be £550,000. Then there are the allowances which I mentioned for the maintenance of relatives of those detained for infectious diseases and so on, the total cost of which will be about £300,000, of which the Exchequer will pay half.
Do I understand that that is the cost of the full development contemplated under the Bill?
