Vol. 109 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Agricultural College Employees' Wages.

Mr. Corish

asked the Minister for Agriculture whether the recently announced increase in wages for employees in the Department of Agriculture applies to employees at the Johnstown Castle Agricultural College; and if so, when it is proposed to pay this increase.

I presume the Deputy refers to a recent announcement appearing in the Press regarding the examination by the Inter-Departmental Wages Advisory Committee of the pay of certain classes of subordinate employees in my Department and other Departments other than agricultural workers. The recommendations of the committee were duly considered and, so far as certain employees at Johnstown Castle Agricultural College are concerned, increases in pay with effect as from the 1st November, 1946, have been authorised. The wages of agricultural workers at the college were increased with effect as from the 19th May, 1947.
