An inspection was made in this case, and the cost of the proposed breakwater was provisionally estimated at £14,000. Normally, a work of this magnitude would be beyond the scope of the minor marine works carried out by my Department. The matter is, however, still under discussion with the Fisheries Branch of the Department of Agriculture, and I shall inform the Deputy when a decision has been reached.
In view of the urgent necessity for this breakwater, could the Parliamentary Secretary indicate to me when I am likely to get the reply he hopes to give me?
Knowing of the great necessity here and on account of the representations made by the Deputy, I can assure him that I will have arrangements made as soon as possible.
