Vol. 110 No. 6

Written Answers. - Sanatorium Treatment for Tubercular Patients.

asked the Minister for Health if he will state (a) how many persons in the Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown electoral area suffering from tuberculosis have been unable to secure sanatorium treatment during the past three years, and (b) what has been the average time between the date of notification of the onset of tuberculosis and the date of admission to sanatoria for infected patients in the area.

The particulars requested in the first part of the question are not yet available. I hope to be able to furnish them within the next fortnight.

As regards the second part, the average time was nine to ten months in the case of Peamount and Newcastle Sanatoria, and one to two months in the case of Rialto Hospital. For other institutions the number of admissions is so small that an average figure would not be reliable.

I desire to give notice of my intention to raise on the adjournment the general question of the Government's decision concerning the sending of a delegation to the International Labour Conference.

The general question or arising out of the question?

The general question.
