asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state the annual rates of net emigration from this State during the inter-censal period 1936-46, and whether he can give the appropriate figures per county over the same period.

During the inter-censal period 1936-1946 there was a net emigration of 189,942 persons, which represents an average annual rate of 6.4 per thousand of the average population. Details of net emigration are given in the Preliminary Report on the Ceusus of Population, 1946, which was published in February, 1947, and the appropriate figures per county for the period 1936-1946 are set out in Table K therein.
