Vol. 112 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Tests for Driving Licences.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will institute a rigorous test for intending drivers of motor vehicles and so terminate the indiscriminate issue of drivers' licences by local authorities.

There is no provision in existing legislation requiring applicants for driving licences to undergo a driving test. The matter is, however, being examined in conjunction with certain projected amendments of the Road Traffic Act, 1933.
