Vol. 113 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Castlerea Sewerage Scheme.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether he is aware (a) that the lack of a sewerage scheme is detrimental to the health of the people in Church Row, Castlerea; (b) that there are approximately 28 houses involved with a population of about 250 people; (c) that there is a nine-inch pipe which is already connected with the main sewerage laid in the backyards of these houses about three yards from the back doors; (d) that this pipe was laid between 25-30 years ago; (e) that a deputation to the county manager last January resulted in a promise to commence a scheme to remedy the position in March, but so far nothing has been done; and, if so, whether he will give a direction that this work be carried out as quickly as possible.

I have no information regarding the lack of sewerage facilities in Church Row, Castlerea. I am, however, requesting a report from the local authority, and on its receipt I shall communicate with the Deputy.
