Vol. 114 No. 2

Written Answers. - Drainage Schemes

asked the Minister for Finance if he is in a position to state what major drainage schemes are in course of preparation under the Arterial Drainage Act, 1945, and whether it will be possible in the current year to take preliminary steps in the preparation of such a scheme for the drainage of the River Nore which is causing much damage by flooding in the Counties of Laoighis and Kilkenny.

Drainage schemes under the Arterial Drainage Act, 1945, are in course of preparation for the Glyde and Dee catchment area, Counties Cavan, Louth, Meath and Monaghan; the Feale, Lee and Akeragh Lough-Banna catchment areas in County Kerry; and the Corrib catchment area, Counties Galway, Mayo and Roscommon. It is unlikely that the preparation of a scheme for the River Nore catchment area can be taken up this year.
