Vol. 114 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Rural Improvements Scheme Grants.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state (a) the number of applications received by his Department from residents in County Wexford since April 1st last for grants under the rural improvements scheme; (b) the number inspected and approved; (c) the number of approvals notified to the applicants, and (d) the total value of the approvals given.

The number of applications under the rural improvements scheme received from residents in County Wexford since 1st April, 1948, was ten. In the same period five inspections were made and grants were offered to landholders in 15 cases, the aggregate cost of which was estimated at £2,498.

Of the 15 offers issued, only five have so far been accepted by the landholders concerned, who have lodged the appropriate cash contribution. These five works have been sanctioned for execution and their aggregate cost is estimated at £584.
