Vol. 114 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Fish Transport in County Dublin.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will give further consideration to the case of Mr. Peter Wilde, Loughshinny, County Dublin, who is prevented from conveying fish for the Loughshinny fishermen by reason of the operation of the Road Traffic Act; if, further, he will take steps to ensure that the Act is not operated in the future so as to deprive Mr. Wilde of his livelihood and the fishermen in question of the facilities which they need for the transport of their fish.

The carriage of goods for reward is governed by the provisions of the Road Transport Act, 1933, and I could not interfere with the operation of the Act in a particular case. I have had inquiries made and am advised that facilities for the haulage of fish in this area can be provided by the Great Northern Railway Company.
