Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Development of County Wicklow Mines.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state what the intentions of the Government are regarding the development of the mines at Avoca, County Wicklow.

The Government have decided that the exploration work in Avoca, County Wicklow, should proceed, and the necessary action will be taken in the very near future.

Will the Minister state to what extent it is intended to explore? Is it to the full extent recommended by the expert?

To whatever extent is necessary to establish what is there.

Is it to the extent contemplated when legislation was enacted in 1947?

What the Deputy really wants to know is, are we adopting his plan.

The recommendations of the expert.

The Government is prepared to proceed with exploration to the extent necessary to satisfy us as to what is or what is not there.
