Vol. 114 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Payments of Grants to Clare County Council.

asked the Minister for Health if he will state why statutory grants are not made available to the Clare County Council as they fall due; if he is aware that the council suffers considerable financial loss because of the heavy overdraft it carries in order to keep essential public services in operation; and if he will arrange for the punctual payment of these statutory grants or for the payment of the interest on the overdraft caused by the delay in the issue of these grants.

Statutory grants payable from the Vote from my Department to the Clare County Council were paid without avoidable delay and the necessity for overdraft accommodation did not arise from delay in the payment of these grants.
