Vol. 114 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - District Nurses' Expenses.

asked the Minister for Health whether he is aware that district nurses, unlike other public servants, are not allowed expenses for the use of motor cars; and, if so, whether he will authorise the payment of such expenses.

I am not clear as to whether the Deputy has in mind public health nurses employed by local authorities, or district nurses employed by the Queen's Institute of District Nursing or by Lady Dudley's nursing scheme. Public health nurses are paid travelling expenses and I am advised that travelling expenses are also paid by the two bodies I have mentioned.

If the Deputy is aware of any case in which travelling expenses are not paid I will have the matter examined upon receipt of the necessary particulars.
