Vol. 114 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Milk Levy in County Dublin.

asked the Minister for Agriculture whether he is aware that the Dublin and District Milk Board levies one-seventh of a penny per gallon on all milk sold by producers; and if he will indicate the purpose of the levy and the amount of money now contained in the fund.

The reply to the first part of the question is "yes".

The purpose of the levy is to provide the board with funds to defray the expenses incurred by it in the execution of its powers and duties under the Milk (Regulation of Supply and Price) Acts.

The amount of money in the board's reserve fund at the 31st December, 1947, the latest year for which audited accounts are available, was £26,000 approximately.
