Vol. 114 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Crookstown Housing Needs.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether he is aware that there is an urgent need for houses in or near Crookstown village, County Cork; and will he state what steps his Department, or the local authority, are taking to supply this need.

I am aware that there is a need for houses in Crookstown and the adjoining district. The Cork County Council propose to provide 16 cottages in the area, and tenders for the erection of two of these cottages will be invited in the near future.

Sites for the remaining 14 cottages are included in a compulsory purchase order which has been submitted to me by the Cork County Council, and on which I hope to be able to give a decision very shortly. These sites, if and when acquired, will enable the council to meet the immediate housing needs of the area.
