I beg to state for the information of the Dáil that, on my nomination which the Dáil approved by resolution earlier this afternoon, the President has appointed Deputy Michael Keyes to be a member of the Government. In accordance with the announcement which I made when moving the motion on the matter, I have assigned the Department of Local Government to Deputy Keyes and have terminated the assignment of that Department to the Tánaiste.
