Vol. 116 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - New Radio Station.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs when he proposes to erect the necessary radio station with proper studios and hall on the premises "Ardmore," Stillorgan Road, already acquired.

No decision has yet been taken in this matter.

Is the Minister aware that the situation is very unsatisfactory at present? Even very distinguished strangers have noticed it. Is the Minister aware of a statement that appears in to-day's Irish Times, made by a leading Swiss official who visited Dublin? Having said how much he liked Dublin——

Deputies may-not read letters or papers at Question Time.

The substance of his remarks was that the station presented a most pauperish appearance and he was amazed that any of the officials could carry on their work in the broadcasting station.

For the past 16 years, did he add?

We bought "Ardmore" and were preparing plans, and we want these plans carried out.

It is the policy of the Government, and, I think, the wish of every Deputy, irrespective of Party, to see that all the skilled men and materials necessary will be available for the providing of houses for Irish workers, in preference to the provision of amusements.

Do not use that stick to beat every dog with.
