asked the Minister for Finance whether he is aware of the very bad state of repair of the workmen's cottages in the Bourne Vincent estate, Muckross, Killarney; and, if so, whether he will have the matter attended to at the earliest possible date.

I am not aware that the cottages are in a very bad state of repair. On the contrary, I am advised that they compare very favourably with other cottages in the same category.
Is the Minister aware that these cottages have been in a bad state of repair for a number of years, that complaints have been made to the superintendent of the estate for the past two or three years and that only temporary repairs have been carried out? In view of my statement, will he consent to have an independent investigation of the position?
I shall look into the matter.
