Vol. 119 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Tipperary Road Workers.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether he is aware that about 40 road workers in the Clogheen area have been laid off work by the county council since the middle of January, 1950, and that the reason given to them is that there is no more money available for work on the roads in this area, and if, in view of the fact that these roads are in a very bad condition, he will take the matter up with the Tipperary S.R. County Council to ensure that these men are re-employed on road work.

From inquiries I have addressed to the county council, I understand that two of the three works remaining to be done under this year's programme in the Clogheen area cannot be undertaken until March, when suitable weather conditions are expected.
