Vol. 119 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Dublin Water and Sewerage Facilities.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state whether his Department have plans for the provision of water and sewerage facilities for Castleknock and Blanchardstown, Country Dublin, and, if so, when he intends to sanction them.

Blanchardstown and Castleknock will be served by the proposed North Dublin regional water supply scheme, plans for which were approved in principle in April, 1949. Since then the detailed planning of the scheme has been under consideration between my Department and the county council and their consulting engineer. I expect to be in a position shortly to give final approval to the scheme.

Documents in connection with a proposed sewerage scheme for Blanchardstown and Castleknock were approved in December last, subject to certain revisions recommended by the Department. Revised plans have been submitted by the local authority, and are now being examined.
