Vol. 121 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Retail Price of Ware Potatoes.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce what steps he has taken to prevent profiteering in the retailing of ware potatoes in Dublin and elsewhere in view of the assurance of the Minister for Agriculture that, while 3/- to 3/6 per stone was being charged all over the City of Dublin, it was possible to purchase any reasonable quantity in the producer-consumer market at 2/3 and 2/5 per stone.

I am not aware that there was any profiteering in the retailing of ware potatoes. There was a recent increase in the wholesale prices of potatoes but this position has been rectified and adequate supplies are now available in Dublin at considerably reduced prices.

Is the Parliamentary Secretary aware that on last Saturday potatoes were sold across counters and, in some cases, in market places at 3/6 and 3/9 per stone?

This question deals with Dublin?

"And elsewhere".
