Vol. 123 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Industrial Development Authority.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state whether any special functions have been allocated to individual members of the Industrial Development Authority, and if he will indicate the functions allocated to the individual members, and if he will state whether he is satisfied that no portion of the work carried out by the authority could more appropriately have been done by junior officials.

The answer to the first part of the question is in the negative. The second part of the question does not, therefore, arise. The answer to the last part of the question is in the affirmative.

Am I to take it that the Parliamentary Secretary is satisfied that no portion of the work done could have been done just as well by a more junior official?

I am satisfied.

Is the Parliamentary Secretary suggesting that the members of this authority have not divided the functions among themselves as individuals? It is common knowledge in the city that particular functions are dealt with by individual members of the authority.

Certain aspects of their work may be divided, but the authority functions as a unit.
