Vol. 124 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Afforestation Schemes.

asked the Minister for Lands if he is now in a position to make a statement concerning the proposed afforestation scheme at Lickeen, Glencar, County kerry.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state whether the purchase of the lands at Lickeen, Glencar, has yet been completed by the forestry division; and, if not, the cause of the delay and the exact present position with regard to the acquisition.

With the permission of the Ceann Comhairle I will take together Questions Nos. 40 and 41.

An offer for the purchase of lands at Lickeen on the Eager estate has been accepted and possession will be taken when the legal formalities have been completed.

Mr. Murphy

asked the Minister for Lands if he will indicate the present position regarding an offer of 200 acres of land for afforestation in the townlands of Coolsnaghtig and Shiplock, Dunmanway.

Four persons offered in all 83½ acres, not 200. More than half this area is unplantable and of no use to the Department, while the remainder is of doubtful plantable quality.

asked the Minister for Lands whether he is aware that his Department was offered 300 acres of land at Coombawn, Doon, Tahilla, Killarney, for afforestation purposes and whether he is now in a position to make a decision in the matter.

Agreement has been reached for the purchase of these lands and possession will be taken when title is proved.

Mr. Murphy

asked the Minister for Lands if he will endeavour to expedite negotiations in the matter of the acquisition of 130 acres of land for afforestation purposes in the townland of Farnanes, Dunmanway, which was offered two years ago to his Department.

Agreement has been reached for the purchase of this area and it only remains to complete the legal formalities.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state whether the holding at Doon, Tahilla, Killarney, formerly in the possession of the late Michael O'Shea of Dromlusk, Black-water, has now been acquired by the forestry division; and, if so, when the preparation for planting is likely to commence.

Agreement has been reached for the purchase of these lands. When the legal formalities have been completed, possession will be taken and afforestation work will commence.
