Vol. 124 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Post-Office Premises.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if Mr. Michael Farrell, before being appointed subpostmaster for Baltinglass, had satisfied him that the premises which he proposed to use as post office were not part of premises licensed under the Intoxicating Liquor Acts.

I would refer the Deputy to the answer to the question on the same subject given to him on 14th December last.

Is the Minister aware that it has since been proved beyond question that the premises which were opened as a sub-post office were part of licensed premises and are still licensed?

Surely, the galloper should finish galloping.

Whatever the legal position may be I cannot determine that. It can only be determined by the courts. The factual position is that the part of the premises used as a post office was segregated to the satisfaction of the Post Office Department in the grocery portion of the premises. The courts can decide the other matter. I do not propose to pass any judgment upon it.

Surely, you can; you are not blind.

Question No. 48.
