Ceisteanna.—Questions. Oral Answers. - Position of Civil Servant.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will give the following particulars regarding the service of Mr. Séan O'Driscoll, a higher executive officer who has served as information officer, or in some similar capacity in the Department of Social Welfare: (1) the date on which he entered the Civil Service; (ii) the grade in which he entered; (iii) the grades in which he has served; (iv) his period of service in each grade; (v) whether this officer has from time to time been seconded for work outside his normal work as a civil servant, the period or periods for which he was so seconded, and the nature of the work not normal to a civil servant in which he was engaged while so seconded.

The information requested by the Deputy is as follows:— (i) 8th October, 1935; (ii) junior executive officer (now styled executive officer); (iii) executive officer and acting higher executive officer; (iv) executive officer from 8th October, 1935, to 29th October, 1948, and acting higher executive officer from 30th October, 1948, to date; (v) Mr. O'Driscoll was seconded whole-time to the Civil Service Executive and Higher Officers' Association from 1st May, 1942, to 29th October, 1948, to act as secretary to that body.
