Vol. 126 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Health Bill, 1950.

asked the Minister for Health whether he intends to reintroduce the Health Bill, 1950; and, if not, what steps he proposes to take to remove the objectionable provisions of the Health Act, 1947, which the Health Bill, 1950, was designed to amend.

I intend to introduce a Health Bill in the next session of the Dáil. This Bill will include provisions to amend certain sections of the Health Act, 1947. I am consulting with the Attorney-General as to the form of the amendments to these sections.

Is it intended in that Bill substantially to give effect to the same amendments as were adumbrated in the draft Bill, 1950?

I could not say.

Is not that the question I asked?

I answered that.

I asked the Minister if he would be kind enough to say if it is intended that the Bill which will be introduced will deal with the amendments which are provided for in the draft Bill, 1950, or is the Minister not in a position to say at this stage what amendments will be made?

I say it will be amended in certain respects but I do not know yet in what respects.
