Vol. 126 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Erection of Schools in County Cork.

asked the Minister for Education if it is the intention of his Department to erect new national schools at Clondulane and Araglin in the near future in view of the fact that the present schools are overcrowded and insanitary.

The necessary preliminary arrangements for the erection of a new school to replace the present Clondulane National School, County Cork, are being proceeded with as speedily as possible, and I expect that the Department will be in a position to sanction a grant, at an early date, towards the cost of the new school.

When the grant has been sanctioned it will be a matter for the Commissioners of Public Works to have working drawings and a specification prepared for the new school and to take such other steps as may be required in order to enable the erection of the building to be put in hands.

A new school to replace Araglin National School is at present being erected and it is expected that the building should be completed before the end of this year.
