The total amounts of the grants paid from State sources in respect of housing during the six months ended 30th September, 1950, and the six months ended 30th September, 1951, were £2,717,616 and £2,097,405, respectively. The greater portion of the decrease is due to the replacement of capital grants from the Transition Development Fund by annual subsidies of loan charges on higher limits in respect of loans sanctioned since the 1st November, 1950.
The compilation of the detailed statistics segregated as requested by the Deputy would make large demands on the time of the staff and would not justify the additional labour and expense that would be involved.
