asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will consider increasing from 5/6 to 8/- per day the subsistence allowance paid to members of the Post Office engineering staff.
Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Subsistence Allowances.
Workmen in the engineering branch, to whom I assume the question applies, are paid subsistence allowance at the rate of 10/6 for the first three nights and 5/6 to 6/- (according to grade) for the next 25 nights. The question of increasing these rates, which has been raised by the union concerned, is under examination.
