Vol. 128 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Sligo Bog Road.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will make available a grant for the repair of a road on the Carnduff bog, in the townland of Creevykeel, Cliffoney, County Sligo.

Since replying on the 21st November to a previous question by the Deputy on this subject, my office has identified the application as referring to a bog in the townland of Creevykeel which is known locally as Carnduff. The position in the matter was fully explained in a letter dated 26th November addressed to the Deputy.

Is the Parliamentary Secretary aware that a number of people who had turbary rights in this bog had to desert it owing to the flooded condition of the road? Would he not think that money would be usefully spent in connection with this bog as it is a congested area and as the people have to go a long distance from that bog to get turf in other areas, having deserted this particular bog?

The question will be considered in connection with next year's programme of works. The money has already been allocated.
