Vol. 128 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cloghan Housing Needs.

Mr. O'Higgins

asked the Minister for Local Government whether he is aware that to meet the housing needs of 31 applicants at Cloghan, County Offaly, the county council propose to build ten houses and whether he will ensure that a further 21 houses will be built in the area.

I am aware that a ten-house scheme is in course of construction at Cloghan. I have been informed that this scheme will meet the housing needs of agricultural labourers living in the area, according to a survey carried out early this year. I have also been informed that a number of applications for houses from persons belonging to classes other than the agricultural labourer class have recently been received. These applications are, I understand, being examined by the county council's officers.
