Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Dundalk Telephone Installations.

Mr. Coburn

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will state (a) the number of applications for the installation of telephones received during the past 12 months from residents in Dundalk and other areas in County Louth; (b) the number of applications attended to, and (c) when all the remaining applicants will have received their installations.

(a) The number of applications for telephones during the past 12 months from residents in Dundalk and other areas in County Louth is 141.

(b) Of these, only persons who applied before 1st January, 1951 or who qualified for priority were given service. The number involved is 40.

(c) It is not yet possible to say when the 1951 applicants will be given service. It will not be until all who applied in 1950 or earlier have been dealt with. The number of such applications that have had attention in County Louth this year to date is 131.
