Comhlucht Siúicre Éireann propose to increase the refining capacity of the sugar factories to 1,000,000 tons of beet or 140,000 tons of sugar a year.
The company hope to have the extensions to the factories completed in time for the processing of the 1952 crop but the completion of the work is of course dependent on the availability of steel and other raw materials.
