Vol. 128 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Land Division.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state the acreage of land that will be available for the relief of congestion on the Fisher estate Stradbally, County Laoighis; whether a division scheme has been prepared or sanctioned by the Land Commission and whether it is likely to be put into operation before 31st March, 1952.

Proceedings have been instituted for the acquisition of 201 acres on this estate. An objection to acquisition has been heard in the Land Commission Court and judgment has been reserved. Consequently, it is not possible to state whether or when the lands are likely to become available for allotment. The preparation of a scheme of allotment cannot be undertaken at this stage of the proceedings.

asked the Minister for Lands whether the Land Commission have now prepared a scheme for the Franks estate, Ballinspittal, County Cork; and, if so, when these lands will be allotted.

The Land Commission have not yet obtained possession of this estate and a scheme of allotment has not been prepared.

Considering that this has been in the hands of the Land Commission for some time and that, as far as I am aware, there is an agreement with the owner, will the Minister see that the Land Commission will try to speed up the matter?

I am confident that every possible step has been taken, but I regret to say that it is unlikely that possession can be obtained before the end of the year.
