Vol. 129 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Cork Bridge.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether he is aware that the Ballyhooly bridge is dangerous for heavy traffic; and, if so, whether he will have it inspected by an engineer from his Department and, if necessary, make provision in his Estimate for a grant to repair the bridge.

The repair of public road bridges in County Cork is the responsibility of the road authority, the Cork County Council. I am informed that the condition of the decking of the bridge referred to by the Deputy is such that the road authority have considered it advisable to restrict the weight of mechanically-propelled vehicles using the bridge and that it is intended to include a proposal for redecking the bridge in the road estimate to be submitted to the county council for the coming financial year.
