Vol. 129 No. 10

Committee on Finance. - Vote 14—Irish Tourist Board.

I move:—

That a supplementary sum not exceeding £27,000 be granted to defray the Charge which will come in course of payment during the year ending on the 31st day of March, 1952, for a Grant-in-Aid of the Irish Tourist Board.

As I indicated, a revised Supplementary Estimate was circulated. I mentioned earlier on that it might be necessary to have a short Bill in order to regularise the position of the Irish Tourist Board this year, but the experts tell me that the Supplementary Estimate is adequate now that the Bill is going through.

There is a very big amount provided for publicity in this Estimate.

It is a Supplementary Estimate for expenditure which has already been incurred. I mentioned that my predecessor told the Irish Tourist Board that they could spend beyond the limit of the £45,000 for which the Act provided as he intended to have the Act amended before the end of the financial year. It is necessary, therefore, in order to regularise that position to have a Supplementary Estimate.

This money is already exhausted?

In the main, it is already exhausted.
