Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Electricity Supply Board Development Schemes.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he is now in a position to state (a) the result of his Department's representations to the Electricity Supply Board in regard to the purchase of plant for small turf-generating stations, and (b) the Electricity Supply Board's decision in regard to the proposed water-powered scheme on the Comeragh River, Mastergeehy, Waterville, County Kerry.

The examination into the practicability of establishing small generating stations fired by hand-won turf or by turf produced by semiautomatic machines has been undertaken by the Electricity Supply Board, who are in consultation with Bord na Móna regarding the availability of turf. The matter is being dealt with as one of urgency.

The Electricity Supply Board have decided to proceed with the hydro-electric development of the Comeragh River.
