Vol. 131 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cork Córas Iompair Éireann Depot.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if, under Section 16 of the Transport Act, 1950, he will obtain for the information of the Dáil and in the public interest, particulars as to whether Córas Iompair Éireann have in contemplation any plans to provide adequate facilities for passengers at their depot in Parnell Place, Cork, where considerable congestion occurs, particularly during the summer months when buses radiate not only to various urban districts and provincial cities, but also to the seaside resorts along the southern seaboard.

Córas Iompair Éireann may be required, under the provisions of Section 16 of the Transport Act, 1950, to furnish information to the Minister for Industry and Commerce on matters relating to its activities which appear to him to affect the national interest. I do not consider that the matter referred to in the question is one which can be regarded as coming within the scope of this provision. I would suggest to the Deputy that he should communicate direct with Córas Iompair Éireann in the matter.
