asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will state the number of persons in insurable employment in County Wexford on 14th June, 1951, and 14th June, 1952.
The latest figures available in my Department, indicating the number of persons in insurable employment in County Wexford, are as follows:—
Insured under the Unemployment Insurance Acts: April, 1951—9,655; April, 1952—9,642.
These figures are not comparable with the figures for October in each year as the latter are based on the number of unemployment books exchanged and issued during a period of one year, whereas the former include those exchanged and issued during the period October to April only.
As regards persons insured under the National Health Insurance and Widows' and Orphans' Pensions Acts no later figures are available than those given in reply to a question by the Deputy on 13th February last.
