They have nominated Deputy Alfred Byrne to serve on this Committee to fill the vacancy caused by the death of Deputy Alfred Patrick Byrne.

Now that this Bill has been referred to a Committee, a matter arises in regard to the proceedings of the Committee. We have had one experience of a Committee in respect of which you, Sir, directed that its proceedings should be recorded. I think it is important in the public interest that the proceedings of this Committee should be reported and that the Press should be present.

It is a matter for the Committee itself.

I know, but I should like to express my view that the Committee should ensure that the Press is present, so that the proceedings will be open to the public.

It is purely a matter for the Committee.

Ordered: That the Report do lie on the Table.
