asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state the cause of the delay by the Electricity Supply Board in bringing electricity to the Kiltale, Summerhill and Longwood areas of County Meath, and if he will state what is the earliest date on which operations will commence.

I am informed by the Electricity Supply Board that the reason for the delay in extending supply to the Summerhill area which includes Kiltale, and the Enfield area which includes Longwood has been that the prospective financial returns have not justified development. The areas will be considered for selection at intervals, but it is not possible at this stage to say when development will commence.
