Vol. 135 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Turf Generating Stations.

Mr. Flynn

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he is now in a position to make an announcement regarding the establishment of a turf generating station in South Kerry.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state whether it is proposed to erect a turf-fired electricity generating station in Connemara; and, if so, when.

I propose, with the permission of the Ceann Comhairle, to take Question Nos. 17 and 18 together.

I have received from the Electricity Supply Board a report on the possibility of establishing small turf-fired electricity generating stations in certain turf-producing areas, including South Kerry and Connemara. The report is at present under examination and I am not yet in a position to make an announcement on the subject.

Can the Minister say whether in regard to Connemara experiments are proceeding in the matter of the wind generation of electricity?

That is a separate question.

The question is in reference to turf.

We have had water generation and turf generation and surely wind generation——

The Deputy can very properly put down a question about wind.

I will put one down. I started the survey.
