Vol. 135 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Boat Shelter at Knightstown, Valentia.

Mr. Flynn

asked the Minister for Finance whether he is aware that the local fishermen at Knightstown, Valentia, requested his Department to adjust the plans in regard to the boat shelter at Knightstown because the decision of his engineers is not acceptable to the people concerned and if, in the circumstances, he will arrange immediately for the necessary alteration of the proposed plans.

The design of the boat shelter at Knightstown Harbour was discussed by an engineer of the Office of Public Works and an engineer of the Kerry County Council with a committee representative of local interests at a meeting held at Knightstown on 3rd September, 1952. Agreement was reached at that meeting on the design to be followed and the work is proceeding accordingly. Representations have recently been received reopening a suggestion which was fully considered at the meeting and which it was then decided not to pursue. I am advised that the scheme already agreed is suitable and adequate.
