Vol. 136 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Tourist Roads Grants.

asked the Minister for Local Government if it is proposed to advance money from the tourist roads grant for the completion of tourist roads in (a) Beara peninsula; (b) Glengarriff, Gougane-Barra area and (c) Kilcrohane-Askeaton area.

asked the Minister for Local Government if it is proposed under the new tourist roads scheme to improve roads in the Glandore, Union Hall and Myris areas of West Cork.

I propose, with your permission, a Cheann Comhairle, to take Questions Nos. 118 and 119 together.

Part of the scheme which Cork County Council propose for execution during the financial year 1953-54 with the aid of grants to be made available subject to the approval of the Dáil for the improvement of roads in the Gaeltacht and congested areas was submitted to my Department on 2nd instant and is being examined. I am not yet in a position to indicate what the approved scheme will be.

If I repeat the question in about a fortnight, will the Minister be in a position to indicate what the approved scheme will be?

I could not really say. These schemes are discussed as between the engineering staff of the Cork County Council and, indeed, of any other county council, and theengineering advisers of my Department. I could not say when they will reach a conclusion.

Would the Minister, when the conclusions have been reached, communicate with me?

Tá go maith.
