Vol. 136 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Schull Harbour: Breakwater.

asked the Minister for Agriculture whether he has received a proposal from the Cork County Council relative to the erection of a breakwater at Schull Harbour; and, if so, if he will indicate what action he has taken in the matter.

A proposal from the Cork County Council relative to the improvement of Schull Harbour has been under consideration. Before making a decision it is considered desirable that the matter be discussed with the council's engineer, and it is intended to arrange for this discussion at an early date.

Could the Parliamentary Secretary say when we could have some definite information as regards this proposal, as it has been in hands for a long time? When is the consultation likely to take place?

All I can say to the Deputy is that it will be as soon as possible. I think that should be in the course of the month.

Will the Parliamentary Secretary indicate for how long this question of Schull breakwater is now under consideration?

I cannot say offhand, but I imagine it is some considerable time.
