Vol. 137 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Payment of Housing Grants (West Cork).

asked the Minister for Local Government whether he is aware of the considerable delay in the inspection of houses and the payment of grants in the West Cork area; and, if so, what action he proposes to take to rectify those grievances.

Owing to the large number of applications for grants under the Housing Acts in Cork County at the stage where inspection is required, an additional inspector has recently been assigned to the county.

I am not aware of any avoidable delay in the payment of grants in cases where the appropriate certificates have been furnished to my Department.

Am I to understand from the Minister that an additional inspector has been assigned to the county recently?

That is right.
